SM3 Programs
We have developed a set of packaged programs to help you build your sustainability management maturity. Depending on where you are starting from, these programs are designed to move you to the next level:
Sustainability Jumpstart (SM3 Program Kit 1)
The Sustainability Jumpstart Program is designed to help move from Level 1 (Recognize) to Level 2 (Initiate). This program consists of an SM3 Assessment plus three additional components:
Sustainability Benchmarking – We take a look at what others are doing in your industry, including: How transparent are they with respect to communication and reporting. What are they reporting? To whom are they reporting? What targets have they established? What initiatives are they conducting?
Stakeholder Engagement (Sponsorship) – We work with you to gain executive sponsorship for the sustainability program – and to address the initial governance issues for a sustainability function (e.g., charter, structure, participation, etc.).
Sustainability Department Launch (SM3 Program Kit 2)
The Sustainability Department Launch Program is designed to help you move from Level 2 (Initiate) to Level 3 (Pilot). This program consists of an SM3 Assessment, a Sustainability Strategy engagement for the Sustainability Department, plus four additional components:
Stakeholder Engagement and Change Management (Internal) – We work together to perform a stakeholder analysis to better understand their key drivers around sustainability. We then map out a program to engage the key internal stakeholders, and help launch an employee engagement initiative.
Sustainability Metrics, Reporting & Transparency – We help implement phase 1 reporting capabilities (typically around an initial GHG inventory for Scope 1 & 2 emissions) to meet stakeholder reporting requirements. We help to identify the relevant reporting structure (e.g., GRI G3), define the relevant metrics, and determine the reporting entities for each of those metrics. We can then help implement these requirements using basic reporting tools.
Continuous Improvement – We work with you to establish an ongoing process of business operation review and renewal to ensure that sustainability progress becomes embedded into the fabric of an organization on an ongoing basis. The Continuous Improvement process consists of baseline reviews, surveys and departmental working sessions to educate, identify areas of improvement, and execute the required changes.
Sustainability Operationalization (SM3 Kit 3)
